Crypto mining has also taken off in the past year, bringing with it the industry’s power-intensive operations.

    This is good for Bitcoin.

Being asked to conserve energy when my AC already barely keeps my room below 84 degrees while my electric bill is over $300

Have you check whether the AC needs a refill of refrigerant? One of the key symptoms is the unit running longer and harder for less cooling.

Most homes have shit insulation in Texas.

Some local Texas building codes didn't even require ceiling insulation until the 1990's.

Lack of insulation is why all those pipes froze when that cold snap came through Texas in 2020. Lack of flood planning is why Texas's coastal homes flood out every 10-20 years. The lack of statewide rules for home construction just keeps fucking them but they don't know any other way to live.

Building 100's of thousands of residential buildings that cannot even survive a once in 10 year events without massive insurance subsidies and FEMA assistance is peak Texas. Half of of the suburbs in Texas are going to be abandoned by mid century once 110-120 becomes the norm.

I’ve mentioned it before but I used to live in a reservoir they literally built to hold water and they kept building housing in it despite it making the area worse at its job. Even after harvey and some articles about how the building was detrimental to flooding, they’re still throwing up new houses in it rn lol

While I should definitely get on my landlord about the rinkydink unit attached to my building, I've almost never had an AC bill much lower than this living in an upstairs apartment during Texas Summer months

If you're in a dry part of Texas, have you thought about getting a swamp cooler? Shit legit makes a massive difference if you blow it directly on you

Some Texas hospitals are reportedly refusing to treat people with severe pregnancy complications for fear that they will violate the state's strict abortion ban, the Texas Medical Association said, according to the Dallas Morning News.

According to the paper, the letter described one case of a woman who had an ectopic pregnancy — a pregnancy that grows in the fallopian tubes and will never be viable, but will be life-threatening. She was said to have been refused treatment until her pregnancy ruptured.

I've seen :reddit-logo: comments that you people wouldn't believe. Claims that "driverless cars are the key to a post-scarcity future." I witnessed calls to action to rescue sufficiently white-looking women from war zones for sexual "gratitude" purposes. Kiddie creepers arguing that a child trading market would somehow "protect" children from predators because the buyer would feel financially obligated to take care of his investment. All those moments will be hopefully lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to :jokerfication:
