It's unclear if the Senate will take up the legislation, as Democratic leaders remained noncommittal on Tuesday. Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) said he would personally support putting it on the floor, but questioned whether there's enough time on the calendar with the Senate set to go on an extended recess in two weeks and two huge party priorities to finish before then.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer would not say Tuesday if there would be a floor vote but said, “we're going to look at everything we can do.”

THE HOUSE ACTUALLY PASSED IT. EVERYONE KNOWS THIS IS WHAT THEY'RE COMING FOR NEXT, BUT HE WANTS TO FOCUS ON PARTY PRIORITIES. BITCH HOW IS THIS NOT A PRIORITY?

AHHHHH :this-is-fine:

Dem leadership didn't want it the first time around. They had to be dragged, kicking and screaming, by a billionaire (Geffen) funded grassroots movement. This isn't ancient history, it's the Obama years. Of course they're not going to protect it. Most of them don't like gay marriage and think it hurts the party.

Obama refused to show his support for gay marriage out of fear it would hurt him. Hillary, during the Bush years, said she believed marriage was between a man and a woman. This isn't ancient history for the ghouls, they know damn well they don't care.

Yup and then the whole 2016 media narrative was how Bernie’s supporters are all toxic straight boys whilst all the gays are with Hillary, cuz, you know, HRC is spelled just like HRC!

        The queen of DOMA.

Meanwhile throughout 2015-16 gay fan boys were obsessed with posting pictures of the various kinds of hideous outfits she could be seen in. Swooning over the sartorial sense of the handlers and PR army of one of the most outspoken Dems against gay marriage. Pathetic .

Pitiful how the cult of personality and identity politics could have foisted her up as the embodiment of forward, liberal woman breaking the glass ceiling. Boomer women and gay men bough the whole thing hook, line and sinker.
