Pretty sure about half or more Americans support repealing the cuba sanctions.

The only reason they exist is to play political football in Florida with the cuban immigrants.

Going back to stuff from the 80's and early 90's is hilarious

They literally brought back all the old timey Yellow Peril tropes and just slotted them onto the Japanese

My absolute favorite is that movie Rising Sun, where Wesley Snipes has to solve a murder involving a Japanese businessman and brings Sean Connery, an "Expert on Japanese culture" to help him crack the case

Yep, it's just as offensive as it sounds

Yeah but every time you attribute it to him on :reddit-logo: everyone loses their shit because they can see it happening - everything from offshoring to climate change - and know there's no way to stop it, so they squeal "did you really just quote one of the biggest mass murders in history? Not a good look, sweety!"

It's kind of wild how little tepid fans of the current system can tolerate the idea of Lenin going "Neener neener neener" as global capital trips over its own shoelaces over and over.

"Oh, there's a lot of anger. Every now and then you see a news story about a group of American workers, usually assisted by a member of Congress, demonstrating their concern over Japanese imports by smashing the hell out of a Japanese radio with a sledgehammer. This is, of course, an extremely effective way to reduce Japanese imports, the only teensy little flaw being that it's stupid, because in order to smash a Japanese radio, you have to import it. Some smart Japanese company is probably doing a brisk business over here, selling radios that are specially designed to smash in a dramatic and photogenic manner. The company also supplies the sledgehammer, and perhaps even the member of Congress."

Political theater was so much simpler back then. A shitty trashcan and some hardware store sledgehammers. Now there's be a team of unpaid interns coordinating the assembly of a stage and a whole sound system. They'd get a custom made smashin' podium to put the radio on to smash it and use like a chrome plated sledgehammer.
