    He could have just stayed the fuck off Twitter and done occasional "Yay Rockets!" videos with Everyday Astronaut and every Lib and Bazinga on the planet would be singing his praises as the foretold saviour of mankind.

        How much real power does Musk have? He has a huge amount of raw capital, but how much of that is contingent upon mysterious investors, or weird credit schemes, subsidies, or purposefully inflated valuations of his companies? Everyone in Washington talks about him like he's some weird loser. The industries he runs aren't any kind of vital business for the American workforce. Hardly any car owners primarily drive a tesla.
