counterpoint: Taiwan is a very crowded place, and there is plenty of space and lots of perfectly adequate cetaceans in the ocean

why is she even going to Taiwan? I thought Speaker was mostly a domestic role and the executive managed/handled all foreign affairs.

    > China shoots down plane

    > Xi approval skyrockets in polling

    > Xi starts a third party

    > Wins a trifecta

    > calls constitutional convention

And you all doubted the power of electoral politics.

I don't particularly want to die in WW3 but it would be really funny if this happened

Literally the only reason I don't want them to is because I don't want nuclear war, but I would love for her to fucking die

Pros: Nancy Pelosi will finally be slain

Cons: It will also kill the majority of the world's population

On that note do you think living within 20 minutes of an international airport means I'm dead when the bombs drop

I am now convinced china doesn't care about taiwan. The just make a show of fussing over it so america causes problems there where they can keep it isolated

I wouldn't say they don't care. Even if you look at it strictly materially China taking back Taiwan would mean they control a huge chunk of the world's chip supply.

Also it has high strategic value presumably, having a whole ass island full of hostile military is probably very uncomfortable for them.

I wonder if china doesn't have more control there than we think.

It would fit china's history to just let the US build a military base there and then just keep it when the US gets bored
