chapoFYM chat doesn't like this site cuz they think it's still the subreddit. i actually think this place is better than the sub was in a lot of ways. we've been through hard times together and have come out the other side stronger and more united.
The thing I like most about this website is our ability to organize our content in a meaningful way instead of just post vomiting in one big ass area. I think this website could be a major force for good if given the right direction, especially in a community like mutual aid and donating. In a few days just from a post I made about Hurricane Laura, we raised $920 for a hurricane relief fund. That's fucking S I C K considering we are such a small community, but if we can get to the user numbers that the subreddit had, there is no telling how much societal good we can do.
God damn that's cool as shit. I'm trying to get people I know IRL to come over. This could be a really good place for semi-anonymous community organizing.
Please do! This community has so much potential to help improve the conditions of others and we should all be looking for ways to get the word out about this website and bring people here. I'm on Tinder a lot just chatting with people, so I've been hopping from city to city with location settings trying to find and bring other leftists to this platform. :P

The subreddit, which was terrible, was also the theoretical apex of online leftist spaces. Everything else is, was, and will be worse.
I was under the impression that the chapo allfathers didn't like the sub because the sub called them on their bad takes, but honestly I was only on the sub since February of this year. Was there more problematic stuff I'm not aware of?
well chapoFYM is just their twitch userbase, which is a third wing of the chapo universe (podcast, twitch, subreddit turned .chat). i'll catch streams and name drop this place and the viewers don't like it much

I'm so glad I found this place. The solidarity I got on the sub while I was working a shitty abusive job really helped me keep going.
I think there needs to be a FAQ on the front page to make it more welcoming to newcomers. I'd like to invite people here but I feel that they will just see a bunch of shitposts on the front page and it will be indecipherable to them. The old sub was great because it radicalized a bunch of libs and this place has even more potential.
