Yeah when the Pentagon expresses concern about something that isn't an argument for more funding, they really mean it.

Who's the real paper tiger? China or the usa?

Whole fleet of f35 grounded,. Complete focus on aircraft carriers that can be sunk, has lost every engagement since ww2.

China spent the last 40+ years building infrastructure and a middle class instead of 10 aircraft carrier groups .

China could defend the mainland and parts of the South China Sea no problem, but China is years and years away from being able to project power.

They have no interest in projecting power. Why would they need to. They border several of the most resource rich countries and half the world population lives in their sphere.

Aircraft carrier groups are dated. Air warfare is showing to also be dated in the Ukraine conflict.

Americas biggest projection of power was the dollar and they gave decided to end that to support Nazis in the Ukraine

The USA has officially recognized the One China Policy since Nixon. There hasn't been any official diplomatic contact with or visit of an American head of state in Taiwan for more than 40 years. That's the reason why the Chinese government emphasizes so much that Pelosi is the third highest ranking person in the US government, her visit would be seen as the US government once again officially recognizing Taiwan as an actual country, which would break existing treaties between the USA and the PRC.

I'm not saying they'll invade Taiwan in return or kick off WW3, but something substantial will happen.

Newt went in 96 and China threatened nuclear attacks and military invasion of Taiwan. So it's been 25 years

I'm not the one being dense.

You're comparing the usa protection of power through aircraft carriers titans is miles away from it's central power. To ask island that China can artillery strike from it's coast

Everyone misunderstanding you has a bad case of viewing this in moralistic terms. Like power projection is necessarily a bad thing and since China is good it therefore can't be doing power projection.

Projection of power is bad unless i live in the empire core that's doing it than i can still have my treats. So China should bow down.
