    That's easy: it's about control, and being above the law.

    They love love love control. Driving a car is all about control. When driverless cars arrive, they'll rage because the destination must be approved by the Central Computer before you can be allowed to go there. Tough shit.

    Driving drunk and being above the law is another. American aristocracy can drive drunk into a lake, abandon the car, not call for rescue, let the woman inside to die a slow death by drowning, and suffer no legal consequences like we would if we had done the same. I don't know what's gone wrong in this case, maybe Pelosi pissed off the wrong local official. We'll probably never know the real story.

      Driving really is all about control. That’s why in male/female relationships you see so often the man driving the woman around. Even if she knows the way better and it’s her car, there’s still this thing with a lot of people where the man drives.
