          Yeah without a powerful political component, it's basically useless. I remember seeing video of the most disciplined and organized riot ever in Japan in the 80s. I believe it was over the govt seizing poor farmers' land to build an airport and was organized by the JCP. They had long sharpened rods and body armor and acted as a tight cohesive unit charging the cops with their lances and throwing molotovs at the water cannon vehicles and APCs. Absolutely stunning discipline like they were a Roman Legion. IIRC they defeated the cops in this instance but still lost their fight. The farmers had their land stolen and the airport was built anyway.
