This is also a record funding year
I cannot believe that people are not only still paying for this game, but paying more for it now than when the hype was at its peak.
(it's because there's actually a somewhat playable game there that people are enjoying)
uhh sorry i think i misspoke - sc bad
I mean those two things aren't necessarily mutually exclusive. There is a game, and some people are likely enjoying it, despite being a complete joke compared to what was promised and the devs clearly taking the piss at this point.
i mean, if you want to know why it's getting record funding, the answer is right there.
I assumed it's because of sunk cost fallacy and people who have already bought ships for 5k can't back out now or they have to admit they got grifted.
factually, you can show that there's new people joining the scam but ok.
Yeah, I have a friend who's recently gotten very into it. He's been playing for a few months and spent like 70 bucks. Not completely outrageous, though I do make fun of him for it.
if they're looking for a group I run a pretty good sized lefty star citizen org. its honestly very fun, you can dm me for the discord link. and yeah, he shouldn't spend any more money than that, you can get basically everything else you need in game.
Yeah, why don't you send that to me? He might be interested.
I tried to play it during the event that was supposed to be fifty player coop, and it was a buggy mess that when it worked was barely up to par gameplay wise with the average asset flip. But maybe that's just me.
i also like dark souls, so we might just have different likes and dislikes (which is ok)
I've played it for years, sunk a hundred or so dollars in the game. Its a scam, stop while you still can
Mario Kart? They couldn't even have the dignity to rip off F-Zero?
There's already a handful of half-decent F-Zero and Wipeout ripoffs, too.
Somehow they managed to create a kart racer that combines all the incompatible parts from arcade and simulation racing games.
This is why every experienced game designer tells you to focus on the core features first
ARMA did this when it first came out, but when ARMA did it it was funny. I think it was the first DLC after ARMAIII dropped. It cost 2$ and was based on an April Fools joke that the community liked.
There was one go kart, four paint jobs for the cart, a helmet and jumpsuit with four skins, one skin for the race martial, one starter pistol that could shoot flares, and a bunch of props for making race courses. I doubt it took more than a few hundred hours to put the entire thing together and was probably done as a post-release "Let's take a breather and do something fun" project.
My group had a lot of fun with it. You could combine it with all the normal ARMA assets so we had go-cart courses with things exploding left and right, tank battles happening in the middle of the track, lots of goats. It was good silly fun.
I think we also worked out how to attach artillery guns to the go karts. And for years after it was released we'd have whoever was in command of the mission spawn a go kart to be their "Command vehicle".
The op going to war in the comments defending it while most people are asking why this is a thing is pretty fun.
tfw Yandere Simulator is more likely to be finished sooner than Star Citizen.
