That's a line from a dystopia tv series about a virus that's killing off humanity. One person is infected in a highly unusual way. He is healthy but for him the virus is like something out of a superhero movie. He's a sort of human bioweapon and the virus has a level of mind control. He had been fighting to save people but because his mind has become more and more poisoned over time - he has that new philosophy. And - of course - it's the way covid ghouls think about covid.

Huge spoiler

I'm watching a dubbed version but I assume that line of dialog is the same in the original. The series is in Danish and that season was first broadcast in August, 2020.

I've given a huge spoiler and I think the series is serviceable at best but if you're still interested...

The Rain (TV Series 2018-2020)

In the new Resident Evil series ep 1, 40 min or so in, a line about the zombies not going away and needing to learn to live with them.

But my favorite, a 2020 movie called Love and Monsters, which is overall not too bad, but at the very end... the protagonist who barely survives and only really thanks to other people (one being a dog) and deus ex machina, gives a speech over the radio encouraging other people to put themselves at risk and work on "getting back to normal". This speech, of course, focusing on only his experience and completely ignoring all the other people who died previously.

basically covid taught me that most of the society is okay with letting me die for "the economy" or even just their own fucking personal comfort and toxic neurotypicality

I had super-low expectations but I'm a sucker for dystopia so I couldn't resist. I expected some cheesiness and ridiculousness and that stuff didn't bother me much. What really annoys me is how superhero-like storytelling is a - cough - pandemic that's infected so many other genres. Sigh.

A positive thing is that I grew to love how she can't stop saying her brother's name: "Rasmus - what are you doing!" One character using another character's name all the time is only good in comedies but the b-movie-like reality of The Rain made it work. It also it also silly reminder me of the brother-sister relationship in Schitt's Creek: "David! What are you doing!"

The cast was surprisingly good. It's a shame they had to work with dialog and act in a plot that were so weak, generic, and formulaic.

Indeed, it didn't help that I watched Dark around the same time and vibed much more heavily with that though.

Kesh the Clean wants you to bring a silver ingot, a deathbell flower, a flawless ruby, and a pinch of vampire dust to the shrine of Peryite.
