Ever since I was a kid I've always wanted to believe that there could still be thylacines (Tasmanian tigers) living somewhere safe from humans in some remote part of Tasmania. So on the one hand it would be cool for them to be resurrected because they're such interesting animals and it makes me sad how the anglos wiped them out, but at the same time they'll just be brought back into a dying world 😔

There’s a decent movie with Willem Dafoe, The Hunter. He plays a mercenary hired by a shadowy company to hunt down the last Tasmanian tiger (in 2010). It’s a drama, with a bit of thriller mixed in, and some arty pretensions.
I enjoyed The Hunter and clicked this to recommend it.
I once read an account of a little boy that lived in an open air hut who woke up to a tasmanian tiger snuggling up to him for the warmth, an occurrence that continued for some time. Absolutely don't remember where i read it but it's a nice thought and thylacines are cool and good.

Wonder how the ecosystem reacts if they went back to the wild. I assume like dingos took over most of the niche, though I know they coexisted for quite awhile
