“It is important to the president and me that American firms and workers can compete on a level playing field,” Ms. Yellen said. “We have raised overcapacity in previous discussions with China, and I plan to make it a key issue in discussions during my next trip there.”

She added: “I will press my Chinese counterparts to take necessary steps to address this issue.”

China, which invested more than $130 billion in its solar sector last year, has voiced its own frustration about America’s manufacturing investments. Buyers of electric vehicles that contain components made in China, Russia, North Korea or Iran are not eligible for generous U.S. tax credits.

Have you considered that first solar won't have profit margins tho? That by itself is worth delaying installations by at least 5 years

Think of all the money they aren't making by forcing people to sign permanent rental contracts instead of selling them the panels!

She is a clown, but the CPC is also full of clowns by continuing accept these idiotic neolibs into the country, "I'll press my Chinese counterparts" is quite embarrassing unless they're telling her to fuck off and never come back but [insert comment here about Chinese pragmatism and why "diplomacy" is important.]

Diplomacy is important when you're talking to the only country that has ever nuked another one

How much of it was because Japan didn't have nukes though? China is now clearly the second biggest economy with easily the most competent and advanced military, they have nukes, literaly the 3rd largest stock. Meanwhile we have the entire 20th century pattern of US only starting select imperialist wars against inferior(or perceived as inferior) enemies.

Out of all the narratives, "we need to be extra careful of US nukes" is not the one. Its certainly not even what the DPRK or Russia say/think about it.

It was just a shorthand way of saying the us has a history of violence (warranted and very much not) towards other countries.

China allows America to put on a clown show in the same way you talk calmly to a child throwing a tantrum. It's not for the benefit of the Americans, it shows the unaligned countries that China has mature and predictable foreign policy, while also allowing America to embarrass itself with increasingly irrational allegations.

      In other words: sit-back-and-enjoy

    "capitalist" country.

Infamous for its leaders in being some of the whiniest, laziest, most entitled people. Its country's young people cannot get jobs because employers are too much of picky divas to put anyone to work. Even the EU is going to blow this country out of the water sooner or later, and we deserve it.
