I'm no fan of Dugin or National Bolshevik Party or whatever the heck his ideology is these days, but I do think the extent to which he's called "Putin's Brain" is really exaggerated. I wonder if the car bomb was meant for him.
Dugin is definitely yikes but seeing your child die like that must be brutal.
While you have proposed a clear motive and brought people into the mix I was previously unaware of, it's still just speculation. It does make sense though. Sounds like Solovyov should be investigated at the very least. Not that such a thing will result.
Yeah I have similar data, and it all very much smells as some Russian fash infighting - in which Dugin was the target, not his daughter.
Could be Ukraine, could be a pro-Ukraine adventurist. Could be Putin.
But more likely Fash in-fighting, I think.
Yeah before a year or 2 ago I had barely heard of Dugin. I knew about multipolar world theory; but much more from old pink tide; and Vijay Prasad particularly, but not from Dugin. It's weird because now people automatically think you support his weird ideology if you are against US hegemony
It’s weird because now people automatically think you support his weird ideology if you are against US hegemony
Yeah I hate it.
Me: "I'm against US hegemony"
Them: "So what you're saying is you're a Russian/Chinese imperialist?!" :so-true:
Vijay Prashad particularly
Prashad is great.
Yea definitely. The two are kinda conflated in the mainstream vernacular now, is what I'm trying to say
haven't heard Dugin's name in years...homemade shotguns are more effective than car bombs now heh
who is dugin? is he basically behind the patsoc thing? i know nothing about him and am going off of cursory google searches
Pasting from wikipedia here:
He was the main organizer of the National Bolshevik Front, the Eurasia Party and, together with Eduard Limonov, their forerunner, the National Bolshevik Party, which was banned by a Russian court in 2005. He also served as an advisor to the State Duma speaker Gennadiy Seleznyov[20] and a leading member of the ruling United Russia party, Sergey Naryshkin.[21] He was the head of the Department of Sociology of International Relations at Moscow State University from 2009 to 2014, losing the position due to backlash over comments regarding Ukrainians.[22] Dugin is the author of more than 30 books, among them Foundations of Geopolitics (1997) and The Fourth Political Theory (2009).
The comments Dugin made were in the wake of this event:

AI Translation:
"These fallen heroes in the house of trade unions, they have already made their decision. They fell for the freedom of the South-East of Ukraine from the neo-Nazi Kiev scum. I think that Ukrainian today to be, frankly, after that, I myself am Ukrainian, you know? I have… I have ancestors from Poltava. I'm ashamed. I'm just ashamed of that, but still a significant part of my blood. I want this blood to be purified of the blood of the scum, the Kiev junta, and I really cannot carry this Ukrainian blood in me until I see the executed bastards who committed lawlessness on May 2nd. This is serious.
It's the voice of blood. In fact, I wouldn't joke with such things. And I believe that these bastards have no right to some western Ukrainian statehood with the center of Kiev. I understand that the South-East will never be in this bastard state. But these people have no right to control even western Ukraine. And for them, as long as they are on the ground, as long as all the evil that we see is happening, no one will sleep peacefully. Therefore, in fact, only normal people should rule these beautiful, in fact, once beautiful Ukrainian people, this is a wonderful country with which everything connects us. It's just that as long as Kiev, while there are nits in Kiev, in fact, a Russian person, a person who comes from Kievan Rus, these are our roots, cannot exist peacefully. Either it really needs to be wiped off the face of the earth and rebuilt, or in fact people have to come to their senses. I think that in Ukraine, a total popular uprising is needed in all its territories, in all its regions.
An armed uprising against the junta. Not just in the Southeast. Otherwise, because the same thing can happen in Uzhgorod, and the Rusyns have already been occupied by the same young people, occupied the Ruthenian house where they gathered to solve their completely calm problems. The same thing is already hanging over the Hungarians, in Subcarpathian Rus, over the Russians, over everyone, in fact. So it is with ukrainians. Remember who Sanya Bily, the late, mocked? Over Ukrainians like him, in fact, these are not some foreigners at all. And what did he start doing? He was stopped. But now even more terrible people have come – we did not see the atrocities of Sani Bilogo, he just dragged some kind of tie, it was a very ugly scene. But what we're seeing on May 2nd is beyond the pale. And I think to kill, kill and kill. There should be no more talk. As a professor, I think so.
So he’s the ‘fiscally conservative socially liberal’ meme but flipped?
like a conservative who believes "Communism for me, but not for thee" like it's fucking weird. It ideologically doesn't make any sense nor can it work in real world conditions, yet some folks - in the void caused by the fall of the USSR - cling onto it as a possible viable alternative to the current state of Russia. Instead of actually turning back to communism weird enough.
or make up theory to read. I couldn't really say since my info's more second hand from someone who actually spent time reading dugin's stuff to figure out wtf he's on about. It's like supposedly local fascists orgs in Russia hate him, the communists seem ambivalent leaning to hating/disliking him, conservatives think he's like hot shit since it's essentially soviet nostalgia but for the russian people instead of the soviet peoples. or something like that.
He's often blamed on the patsoc thing/patsocs get called Duginists, I know Caleb Maupin has some connection to him but I don't think its that important, patsucc as a tendency was gonna rise with or without lineage to Dugin I'm pretty sure.
He’s a grifter who rode on the political climate of the 90s in Russia and was part of an artistic movement in the same era called the National Bolsheviks Party with Limonov.
It doesn’t take a political genius to see why Russians has revanchist tendency when you transformed them into the world’s gas station

An excerpt from an interesting interview with Darya Dugin, the daughter who died or was killed:
DD: I am a political observer of the International Eurasist Movement and an expert in international relations. My field of activity is the analysis of European politics as well as geopolitics. In this capacity, I appear on Russian, Pakistani, Turkish, Chinese and Indian television channels, presenting a multipolar world-view of political processes.
My areas of interest are both the European civilization space and the Middle East, where a kind of conservative revolution is taking place—from Iran’s constant confrontation with American hegemony or Syria’s struggle against Western imperialism, to Turkey, which is now showing interesting tendencies to move away from NATO and the Anglo-Saxon geopolitical bloc and is trying to build its foreign policy on a multipolar basis, engaging in a dialogue with the Eurasian civilization. I think it is important to follow the processes in the Middle East region; it is one of the stages of the struggle against imperialism.
On the other hand, I am also very interested in African countries; they represent “The Other” for Europe and Russia, from the analysis of which one can better understand his own civilization. Africa has always been an element of dream for Europeans as well as for Russians—remember Arthur Rimbaud’s Journey to Abyssinia and Harrar, or the Russian poet Nikolai Goumilev, who was inspired by Rimbaud (“African Diary”) and a series of poems about Africa, in which he actually reveals Africa as an unexplored civilization, full of meaning, which Western colonialism cruelly tried to undo and destroy. Today, tectonic shifts are occurring on the African continent, and the confrontation of civilizations: Western and authentically African (so different and unique) is extremely interesting.
For me, a particularly important topic is the development of the theory of a multipolar world. It is clear that the globalist moment is over. The end of liberalism is now at hand—the end of liberal history. At the same time, it is extremely important to understand that a new stage full of challenges, provocations and complexities has begun. The process of creating multipolarity, of structuring civilizational blocs and establishing a dialogue between them is the main task of all intellectuals today. Samuel Huntington, as a realist of international relations, has rightly warned against the risks of a clash of civilizations. Fabio Petito, a specialist in international relations, stressed that the construction of a “dialogue of civilizations” is the central task and “the only way forward.”
Thus, in order to consolidate the multipolar world, the border areas (intermediaries) between civilizations must be treated with care. All conflicts take place at the borders (intermediate zones) of civilizations, where attitudes clash. It is therefore essential to develop a “border” (intermediate) mindset, if the multipolar world is to function fully and move from a “clash” to a “dialogue” of civilizations. Without this, there is a risk of a “clash.”
i know he is fash scum and all and his daughter isnt likely to be good either
but my little empathetic brain hates to see someone's life look so thoroughly destroyed in the blink of an eye. i believe most deserve some re-education but not this
Eh sounds like Putin blew her up to blame it on Ukraine, classic Russian playbook 101
edit: /s jesus
kinda speculative. no evidence really has come in yet for Putin doing it, or Ukraine doing it, or America doing it, etc.
im not sure it matters who did it. only what's going to be done with it.
He's Putin's Brain to about the same extent that LaRouche was Ronald Raygun's Brain.
