Andrew Tate. Never heard of this fucking guy before a few weeks ago and now it's like I can't stop hearing about him.

I wish I would never hear his name again, but being anywhere near a classroom right now means seeing impressionable boys that recently decided to hit the ground running as misogynist assholes that can't wait to assault women at the first opportunity. :doomer:

a bunch of us are socialists and openly queer, probably more than any other living gen in the US.

the thing is though that its increasingly impossible to be apolitical. so a bunch of shitty dude bros are actually vocalizing all the awful misogyny they’ve internalized.

It was always there in those type of reactionaries, they just previously could coast on being seen as “default”. That’s less of the case now and they’re flipping out about being treated like the boring hogs they are.

I see this, overall, as a good thing. "Apolitical" was always a status quo supporting lie and fuck South Park ideology for making it seem cool and subversive since the 90s.

I do enjoy the memes mocking him, even if I'm very sick of his cult.

Anything related to Qanon. It was an interesting exercise for a while I guess, Qanon is the best way to learn about how conservatives process reality with their completely broken brains. You can learn a lot about conspiracy mindsets and also how a lot of conspiracies are antisemitism swirled around and remixed.

But my god, my entire family will not shut up about Q drops and digital soldiers or whatever. I have co-workers too who are completely in the hole. They're all years late too, trying to inform me about adrenochrome or Michael Flynn or whatever. Stuff these people were talking about 5+ years ago that's completely obsolete now.

I'm so sick of it now. Their entire lives revolve around reading Q stuff on Facebook. Any time I visit, they've got another batch of fresh facebook Q memes from 2017 they're seeing only now. They don't even have coherent politics outside a knee jerk hatred of Democrats, except JFK, because Q told them to like JFK. My cousin named his kid Kennedy even. I'm so tired of it.

TheAmazingAtheist, I legit haven't heard about that weirdo in 10 years, and now YouTube keeps trying to show his videos in the recommendations

That moment when he (CW: extreme misogyny and sexual violence) said he hoped someone he didn't like would

      spoiler

      "drown in rape cum"

was the moment I decided that Reddit New Atheists were, as an ideological group, irredeemable misogynist chuds as long as they coexisted with TheAmazingAtheist instead of leaving or kicking him out and rejecting him.

Kanye West. I get it, he gets the "eccentric genius" pass to be insufferably narcissistic and pal around with fascists forever and ever.

Just all of them, tbh. Pop culture is shit, I drop out more and more every week.

There's tons of interesting people to read about, talk about, read there works if ou disconnect from pop culture.

Every "anti-woke" streamer influencer guy like haz, maupin(before the recent allegations, those are good that they are acknowledged), vaush too, fucking all of these assholes that spend all their time just trying to make people angry only to either take an infuriating high ground stance out of it, or try and drag people down into the mud and get them even more angry by just saying bigoted shit.

When :bernie-pout: had a big protest and the media hogs kept the cameras rolling on an empty podium was a defining moment for me and my understanding of just how symbiotic the relationship was between liberal media and fascist demagogues. :a-little-trolling:

This is exactly what I was gonna say. When I see our big wet president’s newest unhinged rant on this site I’m cool with that, and they’re funny.

But when libs and media types and Twitter blue checks can’t stop talking about him nearly 2 years after he’s out of office I’m just like SHUT UUUUUUPPP

My SO has been an MSNBC watcher for the last 18 years. We've had some heated discussions about it because even in the next room hearing the nascent fascist drivel drives me mad. At least now she yells at the screen, so that's progress.

The nice thing about the Jan 6 stuff is it’s so easy to be right. You tacitly agree with the premise but say you’re not gonna invest attention in it because nothing will come of it, and then inevitably be proven right.

Exactly! If I’m wrong (which I won’t be) I get to celebrate right along with them. I’m perfectly happy to admit I was wrong in predicting a bad outcome.

You’re right though if I’m actually doing long term thinking a second Trump term almost seems like the best option because Biden seems so destined to lose and the alternative is DeSantis which is so much worse
