yeah real smart start a trade embargo on China the contry we outsourced all our production to. I confidently predict no reprocussions and am willing to write an article to that effect in the economist/predict China's imminent collapse on youtube

It's pretty wild how much stupid shit we import from China. Most of the steel we get for manufacturing at my job comes from China, and we're in an area that used to produce huge amounts of steel locally like 2-3 decades ago.

From what I understand it China's answer to the crisis of overproduction is to dump their lower quality steel on the western market. The steel's still perfectly good but it's the worst parts of each batch

Jesus Christ. China could disintegrate the US economy just by dumping their dollar bonds and stop selling them stuff.

liberals however are still living in the cold war back when America controlled it's own production. It's pretty funny actually the Chinese realised that corporations would sell out all of America's productive capabilities and technical secrets. Capitalism sold itself to the Communists

The Chinese can play hardball with American corporations in a way the Soviets before them could never dream of doing to the American state

One day, when the world market is more or less fully developed and can no longer be suddenly enlarged, and if labour productivity continues to advance, then sooner or later the periodic clashes between productive forces and market barriers will begin, and because of their recurrence, these will naturally become increasingly rough and stormy.

We sell our valuable innovative tech to the rest of the world because capitalism works so well!

China is not allowed to buy our valuable innovative tech because capitalism works so well!

I know it won't happen but it would be poetic justice if China took us in front of the WTO and they sided with China because the market knows best
