Make no mistake—Sugiyama is no fan of the comics. He said he did not watch them, but would defend what he called the rights of those who did. He went so far as to compare people who like such manga with suppressed minority groups such as LGBTQ people in Japan, and blamed the “rise of feminism” in the country for the growing pressure to ban the content.

:frothingfash:: "Wait, why are some people disgusted by this, this is literally the same persecution gay people go through (not that I disagree with how they're treated)!"

How did Japan catch Westbrain again?

Who would have thought that a country that the US set up in the 1950 would have bad sexual politics

Japan wasn't exactly the land of sexual liberation before WWII. Women called their husbands "lord" and were expected to obey.

It wasn't perfect but unless I am remembering things wrong female pleasure and same sex acti ity were culturally important activities so they would be progressive compared to most america today

You know what bukkake is? It's from back when the village men would catch a woman cheating. They'd tie her up, drag her into a cave, and all whack off on her face. Thus disgraced, she could never again return. So progressive.

Yeah, it's a kind of noodles. It's also the name for a disgrace ritual because of the obvious parallel. Can't believe people are defending the misogynist hate rituals of pre-WW2 Japan, but here it is.

And were that true it could still be said that they weren't perfect but by virtue of assigning cultural legitimatacy to female pleasure and same sex activities they would be more progressive than most of america today.

Word on the street is that the rank and file have been getting more militant in response to the LDP getting more fashy, but the leadership is terrified of being likened to past leaders that did terrorism and alienated the masses from the party in the fifties. Still if the LDP (America's puppet party, don't forget) ever collapses the JCP will almost certainly be one of the major players in the resulting realignment.

I wouldn't say they're more capitalist than America. They do have affordable public healthcare and transportation at least.

The number of otaku creeps that completely fucking missed the point of Evangelion so badly that Anno burned the franchise down and had Shinji

        :rat-salute-2:

(Also, I had always wondered a bit about that scene. I got that the extremely uncomfortable vibes were intentional but didn't know the authorial intent behind it.)

The article had a link to a research paper I could not read. Does research show that anime/manga increases the risk of child sexual abuse?

No children were harmed by CG/drawn/AI kid porn and its existence is generally regarded (by the anti child abuse advocacy orgs I’ve ever heard comment on this kind of stuff) as good and beneficial in reducing actual child abuse. Nobody is a pedophile because of this stuff, at least as few as people who are gay or have certain sexual preferences as a result of mostly environmental causes are, probably.

What the fuck is wrong with you. Stop comparing gay people to pedos. Jesus Christ.

No, drawn child porn does not reduce the chance of actual child abuse. If you believe that I don't know what to say

And yes, if someone sexually abuses a child while drunk they are a pedo. Obviously.

Your whole comment is full of shit.
