As I near 200,000 followers here at fishingboatproceeds, I just wanted to to say China is one of my favorite countries. Not only that, but communism is amazing. It makes me go a little crazy on it to be honest. Like, I cannot spread it wide enough through the world to be satisfied. I’m only satisfied when I feel those intense, powerful, rhythmic chants of the workers in the streets. When I sit back on my heels, look around at the revolution with warmth in my heart and sweat running across my brow, hair all fucked up and wipe my face with the back of my arm and ask you if I did a good job and you cannot even speak because I’ve drained the means of production out of the parasitic bourgeoisie..... that’s when I’m satisfied.

john green is a bourgeois author who employs hundreds of people and has used his platform to slander socialism and socialist history several times. He's not PragerU tier or anything but I'd never call him chairman.

    5 mins in...

In a way he's more insidious than prager-U tier propaganda because he's able to slip in easy liberal jabs at socialism and communism while pretending to sympathize with their broader ideals and appearing "reasonable." He offers massive oversimplifications of very complicated history and tellingly picks and chooses which details to highlight and which to ignore. (No mention anywhere in this video, for example, is the allied imperialist coalition of 14 nations formed to aid the white movement, the sanctions and embargoes against the newborn USSR, or the internal sabotage carried out out by people resisting redistribution, who are framed as entirely wholesome and vaguely "democracy" oriented). Note his source list in the episode notes (which he only pastes in after the fact and never edits into the videos to apply to each claim he makes) is curiously all Western published books:

I thought the context of him being a spokesman of neoliberalism was clear. I was not unironically calling him chairman lol

i don't assume other people know or don't know stuff as a rule. this relatively good tweet from him might have been the first thing from him you ever saw :shrug-outta-hecks: I just wanted to dunk on John Green, not on you.

      +1 for cockeatpasta

Something tells me John Green would be more horrified by being associated with the Chinese government than by being associated with being good at blowjobs

I think you're right, which is saying a lot considering that post drove him off of tumblr (good riddance) (bullying works)

I'm not sure what the original text of the post was, but back when you could edit the posts you were reblogging someone changed one of his posts (presumably about hitting 200k followers) to the following:

As I near 200,000 followers here at fishingboatproceeds, I just wanted to to say Cock is one of my favorite tastes. Not only that, but balls smell amazing. It makes me go a little crazy on it to be honest. Like, I cannot get it far enough down my throat to be satisfied. I’m only satisfied when I feel those intense, powerful, salty hot pumps of cum down my throat. When I sit back on my heels, look up at you with cum all over my mouth and slobber running down my neck, hair all fucked up and wipe my mouth with the back of my arm and ask you if I did a good job and you cannot even speak because I’ve drained all of your energy out the tip of your dick..... that’s when I’m satisfied.

The ability to edit the posts you reblogged was removed shortly thereafter (what a wild design decision in the first place???) and also John Green left tumblr (good riddance)

No, this was from a time on Tumblr where you could edit other people’s posts for some reason. The original text was something else, but this is the version that became famous

He is a capitalist who leveraged his early success on YouTube to make edutainment content, launch his career as a novelist, and do charity work, among other things. While the subject is rarely brought up in his content, he is intensely anticommunist. His history videos on the Soviet Union are not great, especially because his series’ are popular among teachers. His worldview is staunchly neoliberal in the sense that he sees the problems of the world accurately, but still prescribes overly technical solutions because fixing capitalism itself is too hard for his personal work to address. He believes himself to be attempting to address climate change while pushing technocratic reform as if it were mass revolution. I enjoy his fiction writing, but I also like YA in general

As a gown man that writes literature for teenage girls I will not be suprised when he gets caught for being a pest.

Would you say this if a grown woman was writing literature for teenage boys? Come on.

Part of dismantling patriarchy is getting rid of the idea that men and masculinity are inherently predatory.

(I stg nobody better accuse me of being a butthurt MRA over this. I am non-binary and exhausted)

No, the social situations are diffrent. The power imbalance and legacy of social forces are different and as such the situations are different. Plus he went to seminary school so that is sus.

Idc about the John Green specific stuff, so setting that aside. I don’t think there’s anything sus about a man writing fiction about teenage girls. Yeah there’s situations where a man doing something is worse than a woman doing it, but I don’t think this is one of those situations

One argument I read recently in American exception book, was the united States can only continue this system of private Healthcare the way it is now because of imperial plunder, in realist terms even if neoliberals attempted to destroy western European social democracy the cost of Healthcare wouldn't be sustainable due to the ineffencys of private Healthcare because you have to pay all these rentier capatliats fees for nothing. This in turn undermines the stability of the nation state and with out an hegemonic status to support it causes instability that is seriously damaging to the economic foundation of capitlism even neoliberal ones.

This all being said they may attempt to do this in the near term in the uk and western Europe but I don't see this as a smart choice as it is the equivalent of removing oil from a car engine and then red lining it. It would seem that we are slow approching a conclusion to the neoliberal era as supply chains and financial capital are creating so much uncertainty and unproductive rentier sectors its clear this current economic ideology is heading for disaster.
