tbf i feel the same way about certain users who loudly boast about how much they hate the CTH podcast to burnish their "left" credentials

I think they, for the most part, realized that they are rich white people and as such were not the right people to be weighing in extensively about them.

When they did weigh in extensively, their takes tended to be sometimes cringe, so that was probably the right call.

full disclosure, I posted an askchapo post a few months back where I asked what people thought about CTH's response to the George Floyd protests. I was generally curious

If they actually wanted to use the CTH podcast to burnish their "left" credentials they would simply forget it existed because they've never listened to it, like me, the one true leftist

i don't get boasting about hating the podcast. Like I think chapo is cringe sometimes and painfully straight, but the show isn't really for me.

it's like having an opinion on a mediocre toothpaste. who the fuck cares? it's toothpaste.

It might not be as good as it was in say 2018 but at this point if you listen to it you know what you're going to get (mostly extended dunking on media dorks and Twitter weirdos). If that's not for you then I don't know why you're either subjecting yourself to torture or whining about things you're not consuming.

my experience with the podcast was just

~2018 ish i decided to see if there were commies on reddit, having been one for over a decade
checked out the mainstream leftist subs
          they were shit
they said that r/chapotraphouse was full of scumbags
i thought "that sounds like my people"
i hung around the sub for 6 months
then thought "oh, i should check out the podcast this sub is ostensibly about"
          listened to an episode
          it was shit
thought "oh, it might just be a bad episode"
asked for what the best episode was
          listened to that one
"huh, these people are insufferable yanks, i'm not going to listen again"
and that's where i am now

also they make more in a month than i do in a year, so fuck 'em

It still has its moments. Although I read a great point about the podcast in how it's really just a spicier Daily Show, now that the main thrust seems to be covering the latest spoofs and goofs in Washington

I just did it so that maybe a lurking :will: could catch some strays
