From one of Matt's latest Cush vlogs:

"It will not be an apocalypse it will be a slow dying of the embers, it will be heat death, until the last campfire blinks out, and the people around that campfire, they don’t think that they are at a campfire at the end of the world, they think it’s thursday, and they are at the corporate HR training, they’re doing the diversity workshop, they’re reading white fragility to each other around the campfire and they think it’s their job.

They don’t think it’s the nightmare apocalypse that everyone has always been waiting to happen, because we will normalise ourselves into annihilation, we will never turn away from self obliterating hostility to others. That will then inevitably destroy us."

HR training, they’re doing the diversity workshop, they’re reading white fragility

Lol the chapos still have serious hangups about "idpol" don't they.

They actually kind of are the class reductionists that people said they were

There's a difference between calling out a book like "White Fragility" for being useless HR pablum, and whining about "idpol." The problem with White Fragility is that it frames racism in modern America as the unfortunate aggregate of personal failings, instead of the deliberate product of systemic oppression. White Fragility offers the racial equivalent of suggesting we can stop global warming if we all buy a Prius. It puts the blame on the (not fully undeserving, but largely powerless) masses instead of the institutions of power which are responsible for the perpetuation and self-replication of racial inequality. That isn't reductionism. That is synthesis.

I did, the whole episode was the definition of overselling a point, it's a mediocre book that disillusioned libs will buy on amazon and then never read, but according to the chapos it's the gosh darn necronomicon that will herald the "Normalized Apocalypse"🙄

Matt almost had a great take, but he ruined it by going full Amber

What are you on about? They did an episode tearing apart a shitty book in a funny way for the listeners because THEY'RE AN ENTERTAINMENT PODCAST

stop acting like Chapo is a fucking weekly Marxist publication, it is a show we listen to for fun

Imagine getting paid 250,000 a year to review dumb liberal books from the amazon sociology section, what a racket lol

Its was literally the WHOLE EPISODE, didn't need to listen to a shitty 45 minute rant by Amber who hilariously enough kept undermining the overarching point the group was trying to make by arguing "actually racism is not that systemic, and we can solve it by being nice" lol

Dogshit episode, easily the second worst of the year
