This literally does happen in physical sports lol, any kind of strategy prep can be leaked and prepared for and teams will try and spy or scour social media to get an advantage.
Idk why people on here like literally stop using their brains just to be able to dunk on fucking chess lmao.

yeah and i'd dunk on them for calling it cheating too
This happened to Bielsa I think (the only based football manager), he responded by calling a press conference where he explained that team's weaknesses in detail
chess is so goddamn analyzed at this point that grandmasters are essentially academics of chess that prepare for certain sequences of moves to occur and their response in advance.
High level chess is less two people sitting at a table over some ivory pieces and more two sports teams spending weeks watching their opponents' replays while trying to figure out what strategies they're likely to use and coming up with counters.
Chess at this point isn't about the pieces. It's a mind game between the two players.
You can't make the "best" move any more because computers know them all and the grandmasters prepare ahead of time with canned responses. If you make the best moves available, you'll lose or draw. Magnus' great talent is making suboptimal moves that go out of the other man's preparation and force him to actually play chess instead of rattle off a list of moves. Once he's forced out of his line, Magnus wins.
Thus knowing what the other player's prep is is decisive, as all you have to do is force him out of his prepared lines and into unfamiliar territory, where you have prepared your own lines.
chess has been used as a cultural symbol of intelligence for so long that people will continue to play it in an attempt to look smart regardless of how boring or un-challenging the game itself becomes.

what kind of bullshit is this
Lol, imagine a soccer team crying about cheating in the media after their opponents saw leaked video of them running laps or some shit
