Low alcohol tolerance, recovering from a past addiction, have a family history of alcoholism and don't want to risk it, have seen alcohol ruin too many lives close to them already, etc, etc.

        Fuck us, I guess.

I wonder how we could try to build collective spaces for our own kind of lefty socialization given that central locations are expensive as shit. I think we have the social capacity as socialists if not for the need to have a physical space that's paid for.

The problem is mixing politics and socialization. The two should be separate. They're not, which is how you end up with abortions like "DSA Pickup Artists Caucus". Voluntary celibacy is the answer.

it used to be called a party headquarters/clubhouse back when politics was a physical activity people did & not something signified on social media

I feel bad for people who feel they can't openly talk finances with friends or potential partners. I think I used to be that way a long time ago, but went through a prolonged period of being absolutely fucked.... and the notion of keeping up appearances or otherwise caring about awkwardness felt by people with money went the eff away.

I'm sure it has excluded me from whatever Finer Things Club as vulgar, but those people are fucked anyway.

It's true folks. I am scared to spend really much of any money since my rent takes over half of my take home wage and my SO has gone back to school and stopped working. Combine this with car payments (stuck with them for now, but looking to downgrade massively to either a motorcycle or something cheap to save money), monthly food bills (have basically limited myself to eating out once a week and meal prepping every other day) and I really don't have much in the budget for activities unless I save up all month and strictly watch my spending. All of this just to break even and not drive down my savings.

On top of that, I've had recent medical issues that are possibly going to cost me out the ass so I'm saving up for that potential

I fucking hate it here in the states.

I am so fucking lonely that it is ridiculous. How the hell can anyone have a rose-tinted view of the suburbs? I am stuck in this prison because I can't afford rent anywhere and I am stuck living with my extended family. And since I never got friends, I can't find two roommates to pack ourselves into a studio. It's the suburbs so I can't really go out and do something because there is NOTHING to do. I can go to work, but that is literally it. Now I never will make friends because touching grass is for idle rich people. The only way to leave is by driving, and cars are a luxury for the rich. I am literally a prisoner and no one notices because it's not a traditional prison. THIS is living in the pod.

Meanwhile, EVERYTHING is a luxury for the rich. I noticed this pre-pandemic where it seems like everyone not only hates me, but everyone wants my money. Only us lowly poors pay taxes and I have to hear lectures on facebook why our precious billionaires are simply too good to pay taxes because yeehaw freedom burger, and the cost on everything is higher than ever. Adobe for example completely gatekeeps poors from creativity because they know they are industry standard and their prices are shit only rich people can afford, paywalls are everywhere on any information site worth a damn so I can't just twiddle my thumbs until my next shift like I am supposed to, and cars are so fragile and break all the time that I waste a fortune on repairs and refueling alone. I CAN'T AFFORD TO HAVE FUN, AND FUN IS FOR RICH PEOPLE!

I want to leave the but guess what? They want my money there too! It costs money for me to renounce my US citizenship and I still have to pay taxes until then if I leave, on top of the costs it comes from leaving.

    Why fucking me?
