That Wii 2 mock-up projecting a Pikachu Hologram :data-laughing:
The PS4 with the god-damn grill in it! Can you imagine trying to play games, as there is an electric grill a meter away cooking food, the heat, the fumes, the sheer impracticality? :matt-jokerfied:
I think that one's just a joke based on the old meme about the PS3 looking like a George Foreman grill.
Check out the weird camera/eyeball shaped Xbox with the glass orb casing and weird lens disc tray at 1:48 though
Drone enemy from a far future sci-fi shooter lookin-ass :peltier-laugh:
These are all just adorable. I'd love to get my hands on some of those controllers, they look uncomfortable as hell. Like even when making a goofy mock-up you'd have to take a look back and say to yourself that it looks too stupid
I remember pictures of the boomerang PlayStation controller making the rounds back when everyone was speculating about this stuff, imagine the carpel tunnel you could get from that bad boy
The dull silver-y plastic really has that early 2000s feel that makes it look more like a PS2 or PS3 prediction
I miss matte plastic, shiny shit getting fingerprints all over it makes me irrationally annoyed
The PlayStation controller in the thumbnail is real and was actually the planned PS3 controller before they came to their senses.
The PS3 was also originally not going to have a traditional GPU, but an extra cell processor to do the graphics output instead.
Can't believe that thing was real at some point :stalin-stressed:
I'm sure even more cell nonsense would've made the PS3 even more pleasant to port for than it already was :data-laughing:
Imagine making games for a console with no traditional GPU lmao, I think the developers would have just quit at that point
The cell processor did allow for technical feats like the last of us, uncharted 2 and 3, god of war and gran Turismo 5 and 6, but at the cost of every third party game from 2006-2010 running like ass.
This reminds me of that OLD video where a guy rants about FFXIII coming to the Xbox360 (though it may have been satire)
I still have mine lol. With the cable to plug it into the TV.
Was ahead of its time and needlessly complicated, like most Sony things from that era, like the PS3.
The memory cards sucked ass though. And only one analogue stick.
Yeah I remember the PS3's processor being wonky and hard to develop games for.
Yeah it was. It allowed for some great first party games tech wise once people figured it out (the last of us for example), but pretty much every third party game before 2010 ran horribly on the PS3 because of the cell processor. Even the first uncharted game was pretty bad graphics wise.
Oh man, I remember the boomerang controllers being published and everyone releasing a collective "wtf"
Apparently if you actually held one they felt really good despite looking stupid
lmao the golden Wii. IIRC that was made as a gift for the Queen by THQ, but was rejected because they don't take gifts, and ended up getting sold on EBay after THQ went bankrupt.
It's wild that we've reached a stage where these big platforms have stabilised to the point that we've been using them for like 15 years straight and can now stumble upon a 12 year old video predicting a console generation that's already in the past
Really makes you acutely aware of the passage of time
if you want to dig through usenet posts you can find people speculating on upcoming fifth and sixth console generations
The boomerang looks comfy, i wonder if anyone made a decent 3d print of it. It makes sense when you consider how your wrists tilt when holding a controller

While looking for one I found a crusty old gif touting its ergonomics
