      Not to mention that every socialist project still has people working that sort of end-point distribution job whether that's done through currency transactions or ration books, someone had to sit there and check it, stock shelves or hand things over, keep the place clean, watch so nothing was stolen or broken, etc. It's quite literally part of the logistics chain and would continue to exist in some form so long as goods need to be distributed. It's 100% as much proletarian as teamster or stevedore work is.

      China even went so far as to try to ensure that domestic labor was being compensated the same as other work back in the 50s and 60s, even if they failed at that in some ways (there were multiple attempts at creating pay guidelines that would equally compensate men and women, but they generally still ended up paying less for work that women traditionally did).

      Why would there not be retail workers under socialism? Would there not be placed where goods are distributed or sold? Would there not be a need for people to work at these places?
