Fun episode, gorgeous as always, especially the ED (heard that someone solo animated it!) but I feel like it doesn't quite get the exact vibe of manga, which is more snappy and messy. The anime take itself more serious, the pacing a bit too slow and the style is too clean to make the comedic moments hit as much. Also quite a few flashback shots of things said just a few minutes ago for some reason. The slow pacing also make Denji's horniness feel drawn out.

I thought the pacing was rather fast which in fact ruined some of the comedic moments. They are cutting certain things (the muscle devil and the WOOF). They changed "I wanna touch some tits" to "I wanna touch her boobs" - which seems minor but there's some important context lost.

I liked the Aki/Denji fight and the "got attacked by the Nut Devil" but i agree with you about the anime taking itself more seriously. I wonder to what extent did Fujimoto oversee some of these changes :/

Yeah maybe the reason I felt the pacing is slow is because of the difference in medium more than anything else, since it probably take half of the times for me to read the chapters covered in this ep. The more serious feeling could also be due to that, since the voice-acting + music add more gravitas to the scenes, could also just be that my recent experience of CSM is season 2 of manga which is even more goofy than usual affecting my opinion. Will need to see more episodes to judge but maybe it's just difficult to capture Fujimoto's style into an anime.

The start of my idiot son moving up Mazlow's Hierarchy of Needs. Think a lot of how I'll feel about the adaptation hangs on the next couple of episodes. Doing a fine job in introducing stuff so far.
