Elon Musk told potential investors in his $44 billion Twitter deal that he plans to lay off almost 75% the company's staff, or about 5,500 employees, according to a report.
Wow isn't it super cool how a billionaire can do a hostile takeover of a company and then fire the workers without them getting any say in the process?
I think its algorithm is just better at putting people in their respective political versions of the site. There's a ton of outright Nazis on that site lol
I think it speaks volumes about this country that they won't. Like, if you're all getting fired anyway, you have absolutely nothing to lose by unionizing and striking. but they still won't.
I mean, that isn't going to happen in the software industry. They are in a very safe position to unionize. The biggest reason they won't is actually because it's so much easier to find another job. they can even get a healthy raise while they're at it.
Elon is a single point of failure for the entire tech industry. Only one lithium fire stands between the US Economy and some really hilarious Stonks memes.
I remember i was doing some shitty job with this apolitical meathead but hed love to talk politics, just not read or watch anything. I remember asking him if he liked democracy, him saying yes and then saying why not democracy in the workplace and a lil light bulb like clicked it seemed.
Then everyone clapped. There was a little more discussion to alternatives to what we have now like, "what if everyone switched jobs every six months" or just co-ops in general. Im not sure if that exchange ever stuck with him but it was interesting for me that he must have never thought about that stuff once in his life.

I hope the workers just unionize and strike.
On one hand, I agree with the worker protection stance. On the other hand, I kind of hope that he destroys the stupid bird site from the inside.
Also get rid of the state dept and three letter agency
How funny would it be if Elon just put all military vehicles on the Tesla Platform and then they caught fire.

Not saying the others don't as well though
TikTok doesn't seem to harvest outrage the way the other platforms do. Definitely still happens to a lesser extent though
Yeah it's goal is more to overright your entire limbic system so you gaze drooling at the screen for sixteen hours. It still has lots of Nazis though.
yes, because more competition makes things better.
:stalin-joking:
:agony:
But then where would I got to flagellate myself just to fee something other then leaden despondency?

Except for getting blacklisted in your industry
