Wow isn't it super cool how a billionaire can do a hostile takeover of a company and then fire the workers without them getting any say in the process?
I hope the workers just unionize and strike.
On one hand, I agree with the worker protection stance. On the other hand, I kind of hope that he destroys the stupid bird site from the inside.
How funny would it be if Elon just put all military vehicles on the Tesla Platform and then they caught fire.
I think its algorithm is just better at putting people in their respective political versions of the site. There's a ton of outright Nazis on that site lol
Not saying the others don't as well though
TikTok doesn't seem to harvest outrage the way the other platforms do. Definitely still happens to a lesser extent though
Yeah it's goal is more to overright your entire limbic system so you gaze drooling at the screen for sixteen hours. It still has lots of Nazis though.
yes, because more competition makes things better.
:stalin-joking:
But then where would I got to flagellate myself just to fee something other then leaden despondency?
I think it speaks volumes about this country that they won't. Like, if you're all getting fired anyway, you have absolutely nothing to lose by unionizing and striking. but they still won't.
I mean, that isn't going to happen in the software industry. They are in a very safe position to unionize. The biggest reason they won't is actually because it's so much easier to find another job. they can even get a healthy raise while they're at it.
I hope the workers just unionize and strike Elon's REDACTED off
Elon is a single point of failure for the entire tech industry. Only one lithium fire stands between the US Economy and some really hilarious Stonks memes.
:so-true: Democracy
:wojak-nooo: ...in the workplace
I remember i was doing some shitty job with this apolitical meathead but hed love to talk politics, just not read or watch anything. I remember asking him if he liked democracy, him saying yes and then saying why not democracy in the workplace and a lil light bulb like clicked it seemed.
Then everyone clapped. There was a little more discussion to alternatives to what we have now like, "what if everyone switched jobs every six months" or just co-ops in general. Im not sure if that exchange ever stuck with him but it was interesting for me that he must have never thought about that stuff once in his life.
In a June 16 Q&A with Twitter employees, Musk said there needs to be a “rationalization of headcount,” and said: “Anyone who is a significant contributor should have nothing to worry about.”
Ah yes, because stack ranking your workers is clearly a winning move. Additionally firing 75% of your workforce based on that stack ranking is even more of a winning strategy to get the most out of people you didn’t fire. Collaborative knowledge work really blossoms when you massively increase workload and undermine a sense of job security.
Muh epic bacon hardcore software engineering :melon-musk:
I vividly recall Netflix posting an extremely smug slide deck about how "adequate performance" gets you fired. It was about a decade ago. Worked out great for them, as we can see now.
So was he actually forced to buy Twitter or is he doing everything in his power to force Twitter CEO's to let him out of this contract?
i think his lawyers told him he doesnt have a choice and he's trying to make it as difficult as possible for everyone involved.
I think there was a bad news break so he gave to his lawyers' pressure to go ahead with the purchase. I can't recall what the headline was a couple weeks back so unfortunately it kinda worked
comrade melon working to destroy the birdsite once and for all :rat-salute-2:
He's implementing a bot to change every word of every tweet made by every Twitter user to the n word.
I would make a joke about firing the de-nazifiers but they've never had any.
