The first scene is beyond parody: the main character sobs as her screen shows the results of the 2016 election. The villain starts cheering and humping his tv screen, before grinding up cheetos putting it on his face and doing a Donald Trump impression.

We later learn that the main character is racked with guilt because she voted for JILL FUCKING STEIN as a protest. Her wife resents her for this too.

The main character's fear of clowns flares up in the wake of the election - a fear which was brought about because of 9/11. Naturally, this happens just when a cult of clowns infiltrates and takes over the town to spread "Fear." The cult's initiation ritual is a pinky promise.

Can't help but feel that someone in the writer's pool had a fetish and was like "Trust me, I did the research and clowns masturbating and having sex with each other in public is definitely something Trump supporting cultists would do to terrorise a neighbourhood :pingu-horny:"

At least 90% of all sci fi writing ever was the author indulging whatever their weird kinks are. Why do you think so many space ships have feet?
