The first scene is beyond parody: the main character sobs as her screen shows the results of the 2016 election. The villain starts cheering and humping his tv screen, before grinding up cheetos putting it on his face and doing a Donald Trump impression.
We later learn that the main character is racked with guilt because she voted for JILL FUCKING STEIN as a protest. Her wife resents her for this too.
The main character's fear of clowns flares up in the wake of the election - a fear which was brought about because of 9/11. Naturally, this happens just when a cult of clowns infiltrates and takes over the town to spread "Fear." The cult's initiation ritual is a pinky promise.
More like American Horror Story: Cope amiright
American Horror Story is just about the prime example of
Totally Twisted™
TV writingLike, I grew up watching Outer Limits and Twilight Zone
I know what a well delivered narrative twist can do for a story and I especially know what a bad narrative twist (or seven in Ryan Murphy's case) can do
It's like he's trying to replicate how "off-kilter" shows like Twin Peaks and the Twilight Zone feel at times, but his idea of how to do it is just speeding everything up: the shots, the twists, the dialogue, etc.
I get motion sickness just watching it lol
It's so incredibly jarring. You'll see a woman bringing in groceries before cutting to a jumpscare of the woman screaming at a fly on a burger at a Dutch angel. Then you cut to her child snorting coke and getting beat up at school before cutting to a man in a gimpsuit jerking off.
A lot of clowns pounding off in that season, too. Very confusing.
Can't help but feel that someone in the writer's pool had a fetish and was like "Trust me, I did the research and clowns masturbating and having sex with each other in public is definitely something Trump supporting cultists would do to terrorise a neighbourhood :pingu-horny:"
the only thing it's missing is gratuitous foot shots
At least 90% of all sci fi writing ever was the author indulging whatever their weird kinks are. Why do you think so many space ships have feet?

Come on, you're just making this shit up, right?
unfortunately i'm not. it's just that fucking stupid
Damn you forgot the best part!
spoiler
The main antagonist (the Trump supporter) is able to wrangle up a fascist militia in his suburban home town because he was able to win a single seat on city council.
b-but you don't understand - fear in one town can make the whole world scared!!!
LMAO i've gotta watch this, sounds like the perfect thing to put on while high
it would be great to binge stoned on Halloween night tbh :stalin-smokin:
i had to listen while a roommate watched this stupid ass shit and it really is just a big lib jerkoff session
honestly it's gotta be my favorite season of this show because of just how incomprehensible it all is. it also heavily rips off fight club to the point the main villain is legitimately just tyler durden for a few episodes.
because she voted for JILL FUCKING STEIN
hey I voted for her a couple times, I wonder what she's up to these days.
she's joined a clown cult infecting a small Michigan suburb
#clownsdid9/11
In all seriousness, I think it may be suggesting that 9/11 was an inside job? Because the clown cult stages murders and shit to rile up the public so that they'll elect the cult leader into power
I didn't believe this so I looked it up to confirm and I still don't believe it, so now I might watch it but I still won't believe it.
Take a drink every time the writers exhibit Trump Derangement Syndrome.
I swear to god it is the most batshit insane thing I've ever seen. And it doesn't get any less insane as the season goes on - there's literally just random twists in the middle of episodes for no fucking reason
I love it so much
This is a bit, right? There’s now way that’s how the show actually is lol
There’s now way that’s how the show actually is lol
It is, and it arguably gets even dumber from there, this post has reawakened all my previously repressed memories of it
I'm slowly becoming convinced it's the greatest piece of television ever created
I probably will, got a craving for some lib trash now
:funny-clown-hammer: Which way
Western ManSuburban Michiganite? :liberalism:
holy fucking shit https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S82v7FqcuIw
There is literally a scene where the two liberal cult women kidnap a maga guy on election night so he can't vote, and he ends up sawing his own fucking arm off to get to the ballot box an hour before it closes.
Contacting the fire department or a locksmith is for cucks :frothingfash:
Oh shit I should've kept watching that sounds really funny.
What seasons should I skip? I liked season 1 for being a really dumb ghost melodrama, loved 2 for being unhinged, but found 3 to be kind of low energy. Is the Lady Gaga season good?
I've only ever watched 1, 2, and parts of 3 aside from this season. This one is by far my favorite because of how fucking stupid it is, but the more I watch it the more I can feel the brain worms writhe inside my skull.
I don't think so lol. The main character is a lesbian woman played by Sarah Paulson
