"Subdue" implies resistance. If I ask you to hand me a bottle of water, and you comply, I didn't "subdue" you. Checkpoints are a part of subduing a population, but they alone aren't it, not even close. Look at Iraq or Afghanistan or Vietnam -- we did a whole hell of a lot more than checkpoints, and we still didn't effectively subdue those populations.

Right now, this is LARPing. LARPing as paramilitary goons is still bad because that helps people get psyched up to do the real thing, but it's piss poor preparation for having to deal with even cursory resistance. It's the difference between me acting tough while I ask you to hand over that water bottle and me actually having to deal with you punching me in the face.

      Lets try your analogy

If you ask me for my bottle of water ill tell you to fuck off

If you ask me for a bottle of water carrying an AR15 with five of your mates holding AR15s which wont let me pass to where im going ill go fuck it have it

      I have been subdued

       transitive verb

To subjugate (a region or people, for example) by military force.
      transitive verb
To bring under control by physical force, persuasion, or other means; overcome.

You guys need to quit with the "larping"

LARP stands for live action role play where people would renact wars in an environment where everyone knows it is make believe

If i take 5 mates out with guns and setup checkpoints...that is literally the opposite of a larp

How does this prepare those guys to get shot at? How does it prepare them for finding the people who would shoot at them?

Dunno mate why do US army setup check points all over the countries they invade?

How does that prepare the US army to find the people who would shoot at them?

Why have people, in the last 1000 years, setup checkpoints as a form of population subjugation and warfare?

Does the Army do anything besides set up checkpoints?
