I pretty much opt out of Christmas, don't see family or do any of the traditional Xmas stuff. Usually I end up going somewhere because staying at home alone doing nothing when almost everything is closed for two days is kind of depressing too.

I'm kind of an extrovert so the thought of spending two days Netflix binging is pretty unappealing; can't even doomscroll since no one is posting content lol

Does anyone else do the same? Any good alternative holiday-time traditions you enjoy? Or places you'd recommend visiting? I do like nature quite a bit so dont mind belong alone out there and thought about car camping in the southwest (I'm in Vegas for reference).

so me n the bf do a thing where we have a tree (common in most indo european mythology) and have perun's symbol on top of the tree and we play rock songs about rain and thunder while doing friendmas on the solstice. usually a lot of drinking and dancing around a tree.

its fun! invent your own stupid thing

I used to go bowling on Christmas, but then my bowling friends went and got families like jerks.

Indian restaurants are still an option - Chinese food is too cliched of a Christmas dinner.

Something else I like to do on holidays is read / watch something Big that I've been putting off. One of my favorite Thanksgivings was spent watching the full-length version of Fanny and Alexander. (Which is more of a Christmas film, but nonetheless.)

Had a buddy whose family is Jewish and they always joked that Christmas was a day for Chinese food and going to see a movie

I used to hang with friends when on paid holiday, if of course it was a Friday. Other than that its "stay home and play vidya because its +40 degrees Celsius and absolutely pouring".

But now that I live in the other side of the Equator, its "stay home and play vidya because its -30 degrees Celsius, windy and even the seagulls arent out draining their arse on everything".
