I think this may be may favorite image of all time. Truly viscerally American. The pained face, the heaps of burgers, in the god damned White House.

This pic is peak Amerikanism. A pile of shit served on a gold platter, just like everything else in this hellish country.

I mean you just can't help but be impressed. I just wish there were two statues on the tables behind him with 3' tall bald eagles made of solid gold vomiting cheese whiz out of their beaks into the gaping maw of the american people beneath them

You think they had the McDonald's staff come in and cook in the White House kitchen or did all of those come from a bag and a car ride?

What's the long and short of Thanksgiving anyway? I hear lefty Americans say it's got its history in the genocide of indigenous peoples, but I don't know what they mean by that.

Right so Thanksgiving was (and is) a European Christian thing, and in the US there's a different back story for it.

Is thanksgiving a secular ordeal in the States?

More or less. It serves as a crossover harvest celebration/"family day" sort of holiday in practice.

Absolute death if you work in grocery retail though.

It is in as much as anything is over here; it's steeped in that peculiar brand of non-denominational manifest destiny civil religion.
