it was just some ok zombie game 5/10
edit: this was the same dude that blamed the sequel's cancellation on players who waited for a sale lol
also some of the bugs at launch were gamebreaking bugs like a checkpoint spawning you in the middle of a horde of enemies causing a death loop and forcing you to delete your savefile
I played that game because I got it really cheap preowned (which hilariously this same guy said destroyed the franchise, whoops) and while I found it strangely compelling in it's own way (it probably helped that I played it during peak covid lockdown so I was in the mood for open world games I could kind of veg out to) a lot of the writing was baffling at best and incredibly hackneyed at worst - The main character is also by far the most boring which is certainly a problem.
There's a throwaway line of dialogue from a minor character about how in LA during the outbreak the LAPD all abandoned their posts and it was down to the local street/biker gangs to put their differences aside and protect the city which sounds like a way better premise for a game than the one we got.
Biker gangs are full of petty drama queens who beef with each other over the most trifling bullshit.
Yeah, I remember a couple of years ago when there was a shootout at a Hooters (or probably a knock off Hooters idk) over some beef between outlaw motorbike gangs
Gang rivalries I presume but it's not really expanded on
iirc a lot of the technical issues this jackass is ignoring were fixed in patches. some of my friends played it years later as well and they thought it was... fine.
Yeah, I encountered one significant bug that required me to restart the game but other than that it ran okay
The Lead Devs don't pick the release date nor do they control how big the team is. I assume, as with every buggy game, the company rushed them to hit specific release date and issues get fixed month's after launch
"The games aren't underdeveloped they're overexpl... wait I'm getting word that they are indeed underdeveloped, nevermind"
Imagine making a game about a gruff biker dude and his love interest wasn't another gruff biker dude
His wife evacuates at zombie outbreak and the dude stays back to help his injured friend and thstd true love
Its not acceptable for white people to be even held accountable in words if not even in deeds. Even MENTIONING that white people, as a type of people, are statistically guilty of something is completely unacceptable in our society.
i think it was cuz they called the zombies "freakers" lmao
When this came out the reaction on 4chan was that it’s a “movie game” and therefore soy
Depends on the specific type of :gamer-gulag: . I get the picture that many of them look down on most popular multiplayer games and are more into mechanically complex RPGs or Dark Souls or whatever
Or Japanese sex games
g#mers are still acting like their actual dad died :data-laughing:
no joke, looking at Kratos from the first game(the first FIRST game you know) and now?
insane amount of character development :marx-ok:
The problem was the game was dumb as fuck, but had one interesting gimmick (the nests) that should have been the whole game and instead we got a million fetch quests with a dumb as fuck story, sprinkled with some idiotic "stealth" sections.
I seriously can't get over how fucking stupid the story was. And holy fuck those flashback sequences. Stopped the game momentum at the worst moments, force you to walk through the fucking daisies while listening to a couple with the least amount of chemistry possible and setting up absolutely ZERO plot moving forward. Just god awful writing, all around.
A guy and his wife are seperated when the zombie outbreak happens and she goes to a refugee camp by helicopter. The main guy statys back to help his injured friend
Then he gets the news that this camp was overrun by zombies so it is assumed she's dead
Then years later he meets a researcher was on that helicopter and he says it went somewhere completely different. So maybe she is alive?
I'm not saying it's a great story I didn't finish it but it seems to lack a lot of the problematic elements that other zombie media could have
I read further on the Wikipedia summary and his
spoiler
wife was a researcher and once she's found at a lab the game becomes about the origin of the zombies, working on a cure for the zombies vs killing them, conspiracies etc
Basically, except his girlfriend is actually working for the government now as their best scientist or some shit
It think it is very different from avenging or rescuing. The main character thought his wife was dead but then learns she is alive and goes to meet her. Not to rescue her from danger
This is accurate until he finds out she's alive in the final ish act
i thought it was relatively successful, not to big AAA standards, but made a decent chunk of cash
most of the reviews for it i saw said it was pretty decent for what it is
looked meh to me so i never played itcome on dude, you can't have that as your avi and complain about the woke soy sjw reviewers who hate real manly men
The realest, hardest, most alpha man in existence was William F. Buckley Jr
Is the type of person reactionaries are whining about even real?
Days Gone was late to the party. The height of the zombie boom that had been going since the early 2000s was long over, and well into dying down, by the time it came out in 2019. It also didn't help that the consensus was that it was a good, but not great, game.
Good but not great is the purgatory of game development. No one even wants to play of for bad laugh value, and no one wants to spend money on something that has a better alternative
