Sonic's mostly had bad games especially as time goes on, but Genshin Impact is a hypermonetization grift with waifu characteristics, so critical support for Sonic. :no-copyright:

I played it for a while and found it underwhelming. Also there's too many lolis, especially Klee. There's child-coding characters of unspecified age (like Paimon), there's the whole "4000-year-old dragon in body of 9-year-old"trope, and then there's just putting an actual pre-schooler in your waifu simulator. Fuck that.

Oh interesting. I don't play Genshin anymore but I was pleasantly surprised (:agony:) by the fact that Klee was literally just a child rather than a 4000 year old dragon that looks like a child pedo-bait situation. Come to think of it, the new whitewashed archon is just that huh. :agony: I guess at least they don't sexualize her. :agony:

yeah anyway fuck genshin i hope it loses

Even the waifu roster seems committee designed and crafted by experts for maximum impact (pun intended). It's a deeply cynical monetization scheme that causes a lot of alienated consumers to shrug at it and look down at people that spend more than they can afford when that was the point of all the psychological experts hired to design these monetization schemes.

Half the reason its so insidious.

You're actually having fun, enjoying the story, not bothered by the daily quest grind, but hey that one thing you want is juuuust out of reach... Maybe its worth $10.

Games designed with psychological experts to psychologically manipulate people cause psychologically vulnerable people to be exploited :surprised-pika:

I didn't. But it's shitty when people look down on vulnerable people that were pulled in and use :porky-happy: 's rhetoric about consumer choice to absolve psychologically manipulative trickery of any fault.

I was using Passive Voice™- my exasperation was not aimed at you. It's just depressing how companies could just cram this shit down everyone's throats and now it's here to stay. I remember being offended down to my very core when Gears of War 3 sold weapon skin packs as DLC back in 2011. I was then flabbergasted when approximately 80 percent of players I saw had paid skins

:so-true: WOW COOL GUN WITH ANIMATED LIGHTNING I'LL PAY REAL MONEY FOR THIS

Oh, I got that. My ire is with the many times I've received "vote with your wallet" and "if you don't like it don't buy it, simple" dismissive responses to increasingly greedy and cynical monetization practices getting normalized.

When you spend hours every day playing a game, you may fixate on cosmetics and perks in the same way some dork who spends hours every day in their cars spend money on decals and fancy truck nuts and shit.

            fancy truck nuts

Now I'm thinking of like, custom hand crafted truck nuts made out of titanium or some shit.
