The French are probably more racist than Americans tbh
they have this 19th century view of statehood that any non-French culture within France is a threat to the French state and thus consider people being Muslims to be an issue of national security on it's own. Basically the French are losers desperately in need of some Stalinist policy on toleration of the practices of different ethnic groups within a nation as part of a cohesive whole.
The French are the people Anglos mock for being racist to a ludicrous degree
Try Le Retour de la Mort.
Also I really liked Les Neiges de Kilimanjaro.
If you want left French movies, watch anything by Jean-Luc Godard from his Maoist period.
I've heard the movie La Haine is good, and it focuses on the lives of immigrants and minorities, and police brutality against them. It seems very sympathetic and up your alley, but I haven't actually seen it yet, so maybe there are things in it that aren't ideal.
I've tried to get into some French stuff, and I've found that it is a hit or miss.

Personally, I like animation so I am watching Wakfu at the moment. It's pretty cute and the birb species name are Tofus. It's basically French Avatar: The last airbender. The only kinda sus character is Princess Amalia, she's the druid of the group. The reason I say sus is that she is 13 and this is her season 1 outfit, not horrible but you can understand one's concern.. However, I can't say much past season one so pls no spoiling.

On steam, I picked up have a nice death. The art style is somewhat similar to Wakfu and I looked it up and it was made by a French game company. The premise is that you play as the grim reaper and you are the CEO of the afterlife, grim's bogged down in paperwork and needs a vacation, but to make matters worse some of your top employees have gone rogue. It's your job to fight them and try to get that vacation. Again, I haven't beaten it yet so I can't give you the full story, but while the intent was to parody office culture and warn about the dangers of burnout, there's something about the Grim Reaper being the CEO and some of your employees are the enemy. So this is another one I have mixed feelings about.

Never forget that liberal Caillou is Quebecois, and we know those damn rabbids are probably racist.
