An Illinois school for students with disabilities has routinely used the police to handle discipline, resulting in the highest arrest rate of any district in the country. In one recent year, half of Garrison School students were arrested.
:foucault-madness: they're really leaning into "schools are prisons" aren't they
i'm sorry i lathed this into existence when i was a punk kid who came up with the idea on their own because we couldn't leave during lunch.
they aren't just physically abusing the kids, they're charging 9 year olds.
this was the point of putting police in schools its not protecting kids its arresting them
Unlimited, and I can't stress this enough :took-restraint:
This happened a lot at BOCES when I lived in New York. It was usually with nonverbal autistic kids that would get violent and beat up students and teachers.
we had police officers in my high school pretty much every day and kids were getting away with murder all the time ...but god damn half of the school was arrested?
