Between this and his Tesla suicide tunnels it's like he's subtly trying to kill carbrains

Lol, 100% they can't get a functional model so they're going to use the airbags thing (which seems like it would be illegal) as a reason why they can't get it to market. "The cyber truck is very real and totally works guys but the government is oppressing us".

I'm not sure it would be illegal (maybe in some states?), but it'd 100% be a huge lawsuit waiting to happen.

I checked to be sure, and they were made mandatory in all passenger vehicles in 1998: https://www.history.com/this-day-in-history/federal-legislation-makes-airbags-mandatory

Disrupting the auto industry by gutting out features that save people's lives that come standard in any other car and making you pay top dollar for it.

I think California regulations require a vehicle to have airbags

From a quick search, airbags are going to be outside (?) but that still doesn’t explains how the car body has collapsible points and also them sharp edges

Tbh i’m less worried about the people inside than a jacked up 6.5 ton stainless steel block with sharp points colliding with a normal vehicule

I might be wrong on this but I think it was Volvo that actually gave up their patent on seat belts just to let everyone have the tech. Rare altruism from a company.

Hasn't Musk similarly objected to safety lines and flashing lights at the Tesla plant? How can one man be allowed to impose his pathological issues on society.

Yeah he whined about it because it got in the way of the sterile "futuristic" aesthetic for his factories.

Also a fear of the colour yellow was the excuse for removing safety signs and floor markings along the line.

Not just the US, although the Cybertruck would never be allowed for sale in Europe just on pedestrian safety standards, never mind airbags for the driver.

Airbags will be an optional $42, 069 extra and handled by a rickety software system based on the popular family boardgame 'Kerplunk'.
