Children are property to be used and disposed of solely at the will of their owner according to conservatives. That is the real reason behind their outrage, the threat to their property. Queer people living their lives might give their property the idea that they could be happy and actualize themselves in a way that might "damage their value" in the eyes of their owners, and thus the existence of queer people is as much a crime as people who key cars or deface property, except more so as children are a much greater "investment asset." The fact that children are property to these people is also, coincidentally, why abusing children is a sacred right to conservatives, the destruction of ones property is the ultimate liberty for a person in their mind, a way of demonstrating complete control over an external object.
