They should have ported Advance Wars. You could even make the game session asynchronous like Words With Friends so you could play casually over an extended period of time

I'm actually literally making what can best be described as an AW2 clone with Words With Friends style multiplayer and co-op. Progress is slow because I have a day job :deeper-sadness: .

That sounds awesome! I tried some of the clones several years ago but none of them scratched that Advance Wars itch exactly, and lacked the charm of the originals. There was a recent instance of a guy's pet project game of several years going off in ZERO Sievert, so never say never, and I wish you the best of luck!

I haven't tried a DS emulator, but the GBA one worked well with the older AW titles, if I am remembering correctly. I'm more surprised that the IP holder didn't bother at all. It seems like it would be a slam dunk; I feel like they would make bank on it and that it would be pretty popular. I know I'd pay for it

I think this is exactly what you're talking about? My friend plays and likes it, I haven't yet.

Dungeon crawler/combat focused game with fruit ninja/mount and blade style directional control, swiping across the screen to act in different ways

    • Warrior slashes their sword in a particular direction to bypass enemy armor/blocks, and raises their shield at the right time and place to block or parry.

    • Magician draws magic glyphs to cast spells

    • Ranger draws a bowstring back to aim at weak points

    • Rogue can fling daggers or maneuver past enemy defenses for an instant kill

I've seen vaguely similar projects but nothing quite like it. Would consider making it myself but I'm not much of a coder... would write for it though.

As a port: Papers, Please or Mind Scanners

Game that doesn't exist yet: Some form of tabletop wargaming sim. Somehow I feel there isn't enough of that slop in my life.

yeah the closest thing is microtransaction heavy shitware, basically clash of clan clones built to make you pay or lose. Not even a real war game, just an excuse to make you dump your army so you have to pay or wait to get a new one. You can only find a good game by word of mouth because you can't search for games without microtransactions and shitware has dominated all the keywords for every genre and every setting.

A base builder game that is based on appropriate technology, permaculture, and communization. Some randomized or procedurally-generated elements like personal strengths/roles and native plants to the location and their uses. Plot that involves private militias/mercenaries coming to try to clear the land for an airport/mine/factory/highway interchange.

Audiosurf would probably work very well, even it was just mono mode.

A chill surfing game that uses multi touch controls would be really cool.
