Elden Ring is woke now? What happened, they play it so much they know it inside and out and now that they no longer plan on playing it are just calling it woke?

Guessing it'll stop being woke temporarily when DLC gets released in that case.

(Also lol, it says 'ethics' under the title of the subreddit; these people think they care about ethics? Or is it they just like the aesthetic of it like they're libs or something?)

They are, and I am not joking, dismissing the entire game as 'woke' because you select body type 1 or 2 instead of male/female.

Some truly grim stuff. All of the baroque, trad bullshit about the sacred masculine and feminine stripped of all the pomp and circumstance until it's just some totally atomized computer guy screaming at a screengame over something the vast majority of people won't ever notice or care about.

I am just thanking God they don't pay attention to old school video games as much.

        • Link in OoT was made to look androgynous on purpose for immersion reasons, Link is really only a dude because it serves as a challenge for one part of the game.

        • Porky Minch and Count Veger, characters they would want as protagonists, are both villains.

        • Sly Cooper implies that lawful and good are not necessarily synonyms. You're greatest obstacle in the series is Carmelita Fox, although she is well-intentioned, she still ultimately stands in the way of Sly who is arguably more efficient in stopping actual terrorists. Oh yeah, and also Sly adopts knowledge from ancestors that came from non-white countries IRL, and the villains from both western and non-western countries are equally portrayed as competent. Also, the first boss you face is literally them: A spoiled WASP who commits acts of evil for entertainment because his life was so easy he got bored.

        • inFamous 2 and infamous Second Son. In the former, whether you play as good or evil, you get to smack around a bunch of fascists with southern drawls. In the latter, the "evil" playthrough turns you into an antifa supersoldier.

        • Not a video game, but a good way to make these losers seethe is to point out that Magneto has canonically defeated Red Skull, who tried the same "you're no better than me" logic on the former.

        • Pre-Character development Mewtwo did nothing wrong.

Hasn’t that been the case since dark souls 1 over a decade ago?

You can select a gender in Dark Souls 1 and it's explicitly called gender. You're given male or female.

Elden Ring gives you a choice between a "buff body" and a "thin body" with the former being masculine and the other feminine. You then choose a masculine or feminine voice, independent of your body type, and your voice decides which pronoun is used for your character. You also have access to a mirror that applies "cosmetics," allowing you to go back to the character creator at any point.

Cyberpunk 2077 had something similar I think, rather than gender they give you a choice between two body shapes.

Reactionaries are mad games arent putting the words male and female in the creator screen which is the most whiny pissbaby thing to care about. They've lost no ability to customize their character, it's only expanded, and yet they're still mad

It's been a long running joke that gamergate was about "ethics" in game's journalism, when in reality it's a fancy smokescreen to put up to guise harassment of their targets, namely women and minorities like any other reactionary.

I mean it is about a world that could not resolve its contradictions and instead lead to "The common ruin of the contending classes", and the PC is there to start history up again by murdering all the stuck gears, but I'm pretty sure they're just mad about the character creator.

They must have realized that Japanese people aren't white nor Americans.

KiA would have defended 4kidz Americanization back in the day to get rid of that "complicated commie country crap."

Also, to answer your question. These people think corporations are TOO ethical these days and as such, are "traitors".

I don't know much, but for what it's worth, kotakuinaction is definitely marked as a reactionary subreddit by Masstagger
