I always found his content to be a little cheap. He just points the microphone at the weirdest people he can find and lets them do the work. Not that I've never found it entertaining. Sucks that he's a fucking creep though. I'm glad these women were brave enough to come forward.

There is a certain talent to knowing when to be quiet and what to say to make these people say insane shit.

Sometimes if you come across a certain way these people will refuse to talk to you.

Yep if you do it just right you'll hear the most absolutely deranged shit from people like how I've had people

cw: really bad and genuinely horrible hog takes. It's got cws for a little bit of everything.

Tell me they think we should be building concentration camps at the borders and throwing Mexicans in the ovens, how they obsessively watch transgender porn to research how the Satanists are confusing our kids into yadda yadda you know where they're going with this 'logic' :hasan-ok-dude: , admit how they've fed their quiver-full cult number of kids literal dirt and other fake medicine and supliments to keep their kids' bodies pure and free from deep state poisons while going out to Carl's Jr. for one of their Texan BBQ bacon burgers, how incarcerated prisoners should experience what they're convicted of ten-fold in order to give them real justice - yeah what you're thinking but worse, I'm skipping the details because I buried them deep in my mind to forget about them - and how

Trump already defeated the deep state on earth and is leading the space force fleet against the Communist aliens thatve been manipulating humanity from the shadows :posad:

Inside I'll be like :jesus-christ: but on the outside I'm like :honecker-interesting:

interesting, ive never thought about it but im able to do this. people will talk about just about anyone/thing to me and its not out of effort on my end. its just something thats always happened to me. i kind of enjoy it lol, i guess people see me as sort of a blank notebook they can just shout all the random shit they think at, since i basically never repeat the things people tell me. i mean i would if there were things about hurting others, or some actual serious kind of crime. but otherwise, everything i get told basically just dies with me. its pretty cool now that i thimk about it.

i dont usually get told super deranged shit, its somewhat mundane a lot of it but i definitely dont know of anyone else lol

You get the usual pleasantries from everyone, the secret, for me at least, is knowing a dashing of their lingo if you know anything about their ideological stances. Not really enough to say "hey I'm one of you" but more of a "hey I know what you're talking about" with a "tell me your thoughts on it".

People love talking to willing and understanding people after all. You'll be surprised at all the fun stuff you didn't know about people and all the fun stuff you didn't want to know about people with just an open ear

I adopt the Madagascar Penguin "smile and wave" style with an occasional poker faced nod and "huh I didn't know that". Had a former roomate as we were washing dishes start spoutin' off great replacement shit and my reaction was pretty much just internally :what-the-hell: cuss before they seemed very chill and quiet.

Quite liked the content honestly. It's a form of journalism (I'm being serious) that has it's merits, but it always felt at sort of an odd path where it couldn't decide whether it wanted to be Joe Goes (RIP that channel), sort of jokey but respectfully portraying odd subcultures, or Hunter S. Thompson, portraying serious topics from well within, but without the "main" character.

It sort of ended up like the video version of unconsensual street photography and I feel like that does lend itself to not being all to great with peoples boundaries

He does a modern spin on gonzo journalism that I think works pretty well. I guess it shouldn't surprise that just like Hunter S. Thompson, he's a sex creep.

But you know, the worst I ever heard about Thompson was that he would get drunk and make weird passes at his neice. he once threw a drink at and pushed over a woman when she refused to get into a hot tub with him. Still very bad, but not "accused of sexual assault by multiple women" bad.

Fuck. I didn't know about that until now.

I enjoyed a lot of HST's work, but I'm not going to treat defend him if he was a creep. :hst-pissed:

I think you can acknoweldge that Thompson was all at once a very insightful writer, broadly on the side of oppressed peoples, and kind of a jackass in his personal life.

Agreed. That's why I said I wasn't going to treat defend him. I can read him like I read Zizek. :zizek-preference:

In hindsight, we can see that he's pretty good at manipulating people. He chose to use that power for some really evil shit, instead of just good stuff.
