So is Attack on Titan but y’all aren’t ready for that discussion yet
(Jk you probably are)
Actually I’m watching this vid now and listening to him go on about how bad 2018 was is peak dramatic irony.
So I haven't fully watched Attack on Titan, I think I've seen like 2 or 3 episodes, but I have seen the Wisecrack video, isn't the end message that fascism bad? Or is it actually celebrating the societal structure of the show?
Just read the article. It pivots into full fash later on down the line.
The only reason people didn't talk more about how bad Goblin Slayer was is that it was immediately followed by Rise of the Shield Hero, which is worse
how is it worse? not trying to be antagonistic. I noticed fash themes in GS but not shield hero
i didn't see it that way. i found it interesting that the world's system itself rewards enslaving people over actual companionship or paid labour.
i admit the show missed it's chance to address that one right though, at least where i stopped.
I feel like his takes lack nuance. Goblin slayer himself is like one of those red army snipers that killed entire villages worth of natzi soldiers and the innocents that were their supply lines. Obviously monstrous but fighting worse monsters.
Then why are the goblins depicted with uglyness? Their depiction has so many antisemitic tropes and "beauty = good", "ugly = bad" elements which naturally are also ableist. Antifascism has to be counter reactionary, which goblin slayer's aesthetic isn't. So the red army sniper reading sadly doesn't work and even then the Nazis did kill kids. The Soviets did save them.
Thanks, just watched the video after it was recommended and the very first episode felt very odd. Now I can just pass the video on and continue radicalization.
I have no idea why they felt the need to ruin the show with the first episode. It makes it impossible to recommend to anyone because that shit right at the start is just aaaaaa no. It adds nothing.
With that said there's plenty worth critiquing beyond that scene in the first episode, which I think that scene distracts from since it becomes the primary focus of all critique. Did you dig this old post up from somewhere? I reposted this in another thread, I don't think I could have found this old thread if I tried.
I think the top of hours sorting is faulty, it did show me some reference to Goblinslayer's Ideology video and then I couldn't find that post again and used the search to find a link to the video and posted here.
Ahhhh I see. This is the first time I posted about it XD I knew I had posted about it before.
