Breadtube subreddit has been in a meltdown for a last couple of days since Jon Oliver's Uighurs video got thousands of upvotes and mods deleted some dissenting comments while liberally applying the banhammer against "tankies".

Edit: Turns out the mod who did it also mods EnoughSandersSpam, but for all we know that's because he is an extremely commited ML.

Ah, I didn't know there was two of them and I don't remember which one it was.

Wait I like channels like Philosophy Tube and Contrapoints. Aren't they a part of breadtube?

They were some of the progenitors of what would become breadtube, so maybe depending on your definition. I think they both have their own critiques however just enjoy the content you wanna enjoy.

I like some of the vids, but the good ones don't upload enough. There's a ton of drama and stuff too, which is why I'm glad I never use Twitter. I prefer podcasts for entertainment and books for information. I think some of the issues with Breadtube is that since the alt-right kinda lost the culture war, there's not a big enemy to be united against. Now there's just petty infighting because YouTube and Twitter terminally online people can't really build a meaningful movement. Are the golden years of Breadtube over?

It got a bit up its own ass for a while, but some of it is ok. It's kind of a liberal attitude to look for anything revoulutionary from your entertainment.

I enjoy watching Zero Books videos and wondering if I'm too dumb to understand them or if they're just gibberish, but I guess "orthodox Marxist who makes videos to promote his publishing house for critical theory books" isn't the normal breadtube bio.

Every single breadtube channel is such pure cringe I literally can't watch it

i enjoy shaun but it is mostly that he makes long videos in which he goes on detail on stuff with actual data and studies and books and i think being forced to stay inside most of the time due to the rona situation has made me really enjoy things i can put on the background and get distracted by for a while

Sounds like you like the videos that are more like books. Which would make sense becajse books are a better way to convey information than videos

You mean to say that 45 minutes of me talking to a camera with no cuts, no edits, no backgrounds, no story, no vocal cadence and no direction makes for a BAD video?
