Okay yeah that is a much better line, and reading it I am reminded how much of a Beowulf nerd Tolkien was. If you believe Old English literature and the Icelandic Sagas people used to spend a lot of time yelling about their genealogy and bragging at each other before they got down to the murdering.
The entire confrontation between Éowyn and the Witch King has so much more time to breathe in the books. It all flows directly from the charge, to Théoden falling, to the death of the Witch King before there's finally a break in the action while Merry hears Théoden's last words.
I don't believe that at all. I can believe that people were that reactionary in 2001, but they weren't that obsessed with performativity. There wasn't anything like social media where you could proclaim your righteousness to your fellow chuds.
Like it's not impossible but I bet you a nickle they're making shit up 22 years after the fact.
Some guy said he walked out because of that line. After dedicating to the trilogy like 8+ hours
It's been years since I read Return Of The King but doesn't this scene play out just like this in the book?
Yes. Someone insists it was delivered better in the book, but it's a book, line delivery is entirely up to your imagination lol.

This was one of the lines that wasn't taken word-for-word from the book.

Real fans know that's in the book anyway
