Made a super cool druid (I love druids in D&D and seeing the movie made me want a character with wild shapes again). This time I put the game's difficulty on easy so I can actually beat it. The farthest I got was into chapter 2, near the end.

Both NWN and (perhaps even more strongly) NWN2 still absolutely slap. Mask of the Betrayer is a banger of an epic-level campaign, and really did a great job both showing how bonkers 3.5E can get at high levels while also keeping things interesting.

I spent a ton of hours on NWN! And then there are the fan modules, some of which leave the official campaign in the dust. The Player Resource Consortium fan project added a bunch of new classes, so it had endless replay value.

Love it. I imagine I'd enjoy BG 3 but my laptop is old and busted so the best I can do is NWN 1 and 2, great games though in their own right and really do justice to the D&D rules.

I've tried to go back to NWN, but even when I was first playing it the main campaign kind of felt like a slog, so I skipped on to the expansion where you're disciples under a dwarf or something. That one was really good though.

    Glad you are enjoying it.

I never got very far into the story, but I played hundreds of hours of NWN1+2. I liked especially to play online, where one person could be the DM, and guide us all through their custom campaign. I can’t remember if that was in 1 or 2.

Worth trying the Owlcat Pathfinder games if you like NN - They're a bit lighter in tone overall, but use essentially the same rules. Also you can wildshape into elementals as well as animals.
