This site uses "treats" like the Smurfs use "smurf"
Removed by modNow if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna go treats a treat very treatsily you treating treater.
i've never seen any other leftist community use the word treat so much and in this context. everywhere else it's in the "x can have a little y, as a treat" meme. here it's in posts complaining about treat defenders or whatever
Treat haters are always on the lookout for treat lovers to scold. They love treating themselves to some passive-aggressive treats, treat realizing the irony treat treat situation. Treats.
All this arguing, but I can really see both sides. Isn't there some way to work out a... treaty?
Im both making fun of the excessive use of the word treat and I'm making a point about people being to quick to belittle something they dislike with a loaded term like "treat".
If you want to criticize over consumption or reactionary attachment to consumer products thats fine, but if you come into it belittling someone by saying whatever they like is a "treat" youre purposefully being combative. Which can work if thats what you intend but dont pretend its not a loaded term with a very negative connotation.
Im getting some serious semantic satiation around the word treat now. Doesnt even look like a word anymore.
Fun fact about the source material for the Smurfs, in the original books there's this massive conflict between Smurfs who use the word smurf as a verb and Smurfs who use the word smurf as a noun
That's actually polish derogatory slang for the police, similar to say "pigs" in English
we should take that as a loanword. calling the cops smurfs just sounds like fun
It's because of the old livery [CW: Cops], which had the vehicles be all blue - instead of the current stripe on a gray background. It probably fits the US too?
i joined team gargamel when i heard smurf remixes of hit songs in the mid 2000s, which were just the same songs but with words replaced with the word smurf
There are 4 post reboot chipmunk films (in the last one they’re recognised as domestic terrorists and put on the no fly list)
Look, Chipmunks remixes were worth it in retrospect, because they gave us sludgefest

"I've Got a Little Puppy" was released as a single in the UK and reached number 4 in the Official UK Top 40 Single Charts in September 1996. [...] based on "I Wanna Be a Hippy" by Technohead. The high-pitched dance vocals of the original, containing blatant drug references, are replaced to comical effect with a more innocent tale about a dog. The high point of the remake is the refrain of "pooper, pooper scooper!"
Clearly he didn't accompany it with the proper chemical markers to distinguish the words correctly. It's like the lion poem but instead of tonal markers it's smurf stink.
people apply it to addictions sometimes which is just... ugh... something capitalism broke your brain to get you hooked on isn't exactly a luxury. it's probably damaging your life and people with addictions know that.
I think I’ll actively use the tern “treats” less in my posts.
Don't you dare :screm2:
I treat "treats" like Gargamel treats 'Smurfs"
I maybe wanna eat em or maybe just want them vanquished, it's not really clear.
What kind of question is that. I'm not even treating this to a reply.

This community is extremely defensive about their treats, probably more defensive than any other community outside of R!ddit or any generic g!ming community. I think people here need to decouple "treat" from "fun." Because when your basic defense of your treats getting shit on is, "you must hate fun," it says a lot about you and what you view as fun.
If u can’t find the humor or whatever in something u enjoy being called a treat then you shouldn’t be in the business of posting
