honestly i prefer stuff that happens to be vegan to shitty imitations of non-vegan foods, or individualist "lifestyle" branded stuff that tricks libs into thinking they've done something.

if you could get the taste and texure right and it was cheaper, it could help people convert I guess, but there's way too much detail in texture and flavor for the big pieces of a main dish.

I had some beyond™ tacos and even that wasn't quite right but i could see mixing it into beef at home and gradually reducing the portion of meat, but such half-measures aren't good enough for the ultras and I don't make tacos or burgers at home very often anyway.

i've always just cooked vegetables myself
closest thing i eat to imitation meat is home-made bean burgers, but they taste nothing like meat
benefits of always being poor i guess lol

Seitan is a good enough approximation of the kind of shitty chicken strips that usually come in takeaway stir fries and shit.

i'm sure it's a complete dish like that but selling it as a 1:1 replacement isn't going to get past anyone with texture sensitivity and I'm sure i'd reject it the same way i would biting into a slice of grapefruit while expecting an orange or sour grapes expecting sweet ones.

My problem with the meat replacements is that they end up falling into a food uncanny valley. Like, I tried some vegan beef jerky replacement but it straight up tasted like tainted beef. I fully knew what I was eating was safe to eat but the combination of it all made me gag.

Vegan beef jerky makes my breath smell like a compost bin for several hours.

Meat substitutes can still be dicey on whether it's going to taste weird but they've come a long way since only having Boca burgers on the shelf.

The Beyond ground still has a bit of a wet cat food taste, their brautwerst are excellent though. For a hamburger/taco filler I use the Impossible ground. The Impossible chicken nuggies are also very good.

Kinda want to try it ngl even though I'm certain it'll be waaay too sweet, America has soo much treat variety it's insane, only like four variants in my country.

the Japanese have such an affinity for Kit Kat that you can get them in like a hundred different flavors there
