Clearly, they are just saying this to get more votes. But who would actually want the draft back?

I don't really know what The Netherland's deal is wrt military engagements, but there is a perspective that drafts (in a democracy) are actually good, because it forces the polity to take more seriously the consequences of military engagements if chances are good that someone you know could be sent there against their will.
Of course, democracy is impossible if the bourgeoisie owns all media.
