    I wonder if Bolsonaro was always doomed after Lula was released or if that stabbing directly led to his downfall as I have always kinda suspected that Trump contracting covid before the election was what cost it for him.

      From what i understand and heard, Bolsonaro thought it was good that Lula would be his rival. Because he thought that anti-Lula sentiment was bigger than the Anti-Bolsonaro sentiment.

      I think he was doomed after refusing to talk to Biden, calling him a fake president and a socialist, refusing to talk to Anthony Bliken when Anthony offered to help with the election. He then changed his mind and asked for Biden's help in the elections, saying that a possible administration by former President Lula would be against US interests. When Biden refused, he got angry and decided to side with Putin for no reason. Which is funny since Putin was one of the only heads of state to recognize the 2016 coup against President Dilma.
