they lasted from 54 BC – 628 AD (681 years)
spoiler
the Rashidun caliphate beat both :inshallah-script:
:very-smart: They did sign an "eternal peace" in 532ce.
:blob-no-thoughts: It lasted until 540ce.
Really puts the phrase "I'm eternally grateful" into perspective.
iirc the mayors of Tunis and Rome didn't sign a peace treaty ending the Punic Wars until the 20th century. Kinda the reverse
Could be worse, Wolsey's Treaty of London only lasted from 1518 til 1521 before England and France were opposed in war
Saying the Rashudin Caliphate won is like saying the referee won after 2 heavyweights slugged at each other for 60 minutes and both passed out at the same time. Their cavalry was cool af but if Heraclius and Khosrow III hadn't battered each other to oblivion over gold there's no shot a minor power in Arabia could have done shit. I'll contend til my dying day that Heraclius' campaign in Persia is one of the most ambitious ever conducted; in comparison, the Rashidun Caliphate's successes were just a mediocre AD Carry mopping up after the midlaner already got the enemy team down to 10% health
come on the persians sent 10 armies at the arabs and the romans were no slouches either. that first generation of arab warriors and commanders were no slouches
oh something is about to win in the last panel , belive me ...
:inshallah-script:
I mean, the whole thing is just garbage. Why the hell is England nearly as big as most of Europe?
Oh take me back to Constantinople
No you can't go back to Constantinople
Been a long time gone, Constantinople
Why did Constantinople get the works?
That's nobody's business but the Tuuuuuuuuurks
